Thanksgiving has always been about the food growing up and I don’t like a lot of the dishes honestly (I always have the stomach flu Thanksgiving Day anyways oddly enough)! This year I got to spend Thanksgiving with my dear husband and children for most of the day, then with his family that evening since all of mine is out of town. I reflected on how grateful I am to start this business and learn so much this year. I am grateful for the connections I have made with my clients and also with other photographers. I am grateful for my cute kids that were adorably running around the backyard all night. I am also grateful for my husband that puts in so much work that nobody sees and has never given up on his dream. I am grateful for all of my family and friends that have supported us so much this year!
With all that I am grateful for on Thanksgiving, let me tell you I love Black Friday! I first participated when I was in Junior High, I ended up being too sick while waiting in line so had to go home before it even started. This was back when it started at 4-6AM. The next time I got to go was in High School on my own, I bought an awful camera from Toys R US because it was 16 MP-I had to return it because the pictures were all fuzzy and dark-it was a camera for little kids haha. I loved the sense of community though with so many people interacting with total strangers; such excitement and energy from shopping with friends in the middle of the night! I love how almost everyone was looking for gifts for other people-that just warms my heart.
My first Black Friday after moving to Utah was working at JCPenney’s-a 10 hour shift was mandatory for all employees. It was non-stop all day! All my customers were super cheerful! I also got some good deals there. My awesome stepmom aka 2mom waited in line for me to get an awesome GE camera from Target. I had researched for weeks and that one seemed to be the best deal. It did end up being a great camera! Not a DSLR with detachable lenses, but it still had manual controls and could zoom. I love getting camera gear on Black Friday still!
Every Black Friday now, I get the kid’s new pajamas, board games for cousins, and client gifts. I enjoy just looking over the ads like a treasure hunt for the best deal.
This year I also wanted to do a little something extra for current clients-I reactivated everyone’s galleries and you can use THANKYOU17 at checkout for 10% off your print orders! Photos have always been my favorite gift to give. There’s nothing like watching your grandparents look through an album you made them, or collage, or framed print and cry happy tears!
If you are thinking about hiring me, this is the last time you will be able to get my 2017 pricing! My 2017 pricing is based off of me working at GoDaddy full time (I will be part time next month) and gaining experience. I have been able to photograph several weddings this year and had sessions with over 25 couples. I have invested so much these last couple months into my education and client experience so I am confident you will love being a Kaci Lou Bride!
