The Church of Dirt wedding venue has one of the best views in Park City. Surrounded by Mountains with meadows and beautiful boulders, you will feel on top of the world there. Guess what…it is a FREE venue! This Park City wedding venue is a hidden gem. If you want those 360-degree mountain views without the luxury Park City mountain resort price tag. This is the place to get married!
This place is one of my favorites! You are going to have beautiful views of the mountains on all sides with privacy so you feel like you are the only ones there. This spot is a drive from many scenic hikes and resorts so not many people are around.
As a Utah elopement and small wedding photographer, I can honestly say this is one of my favorite places to take photos. It feels like we are the only ones on the mountain! There are beautiful rolling hills, mountain views, and some amazing boulders that help create epic wedding photos. The sunset there is hard to beat!
Since the Church of Dirt is a no-cost Park City wedding venue you can spend more money on what really matters to you!
The Church of Dirt is unique in the fact that it is a public, free wedding venue. There are no wedding vendors or coordinators maintaining it. There is no one to call to talk to; no website to get more info or reserve your wedding date. This is not your normal wedding venue!
If you are considering getting married at the Church of Dirt, I would make it a date to go visit the space together. Just be careful to not interrupt someone else’s wedding day.
If it feels like the perfect spot for your vows, you can sign the planner and leave a momento. Be sure to zip the bag properly and that whatever you leave there will be weather and wind-proof. Most people leave a rock or wood sign with their name and wedding date, maybe a little poem. I love seeing the pile of LOVE from so many couples there.
The Church of Dirt is growing in popularity every year (as you can imagine, word spreads fast!). You will probably have to save your date at least 3-6 months in advance.
There can be multiple weddings in one day there so be sure to note the hours you will be using the space like (4pm-6pm). 2 hours is plenty of time to have your ceremony and take photos there. You can take more wedding photos on the other side of the road as well as have your reception at a separate location.
The best time to get married there is in the summer: June-September. The Church of Dirt is quite literally, on top of a mountain (about 9,700 feet above sea level). It is up there near several amazing ski resorts. This place is way colder than down in Park City or Salt Lake City and typically very windy. Keep in mind that there will be snow November-May ish and snowstorms may close the roads.
You can type in “Church of Dirt Park City” into your maps app and it will show up. Be sure to download the steps because you will lose service in the mountains. There are 3 main ways to get to the Church of Dirt:
Salt Lake City – Take the I-215 then 190
Park City- Take the I-80 then the 224
Provo – 189 to the 111
