“They knew that they were meant to be together”. I am so excited to share my sister’s wedding day with you. Karissa and Jared are adorable together. Jared has shown her so much love and been there for her through so much. If he lasted this long, I think it is safe to say he truly loves my sister.
I walked up the stairs to see my little sister all grown up. From her tomboy days, to a beautiful princess. I have never seen her look so beautiful. Her long red curls framed her face. Her bright blue eyes were full of joy. I was so happy that she could finally get married even with a pandemic and rain changing all our plans.
I knew there would be so much joy, but there was also an emptiness from those we have lost. Our brother JD passed away in 2018. Our grandmother Net passed away in 2010. We miss them both dearly. I wanted to give Karissa something to keep them with her all day.
These little lockets represent our loved ones that have passed on but will always be in our hearts. I love that the officiant honored them during the ceremony as well. You can watch the full ceremony at the end of this post.
There is my 2mom, buttoning up my little sister’s custom wedding gown. It fit perfectly.
Karissa’s dress had a fitted gown and an overskirt of tulle to go over it that was detachable. We used safety pins to make sure the skirt didn’t fall past the waist line. It was an adventure into Karissa’s dress to fasten the pins.
Meet my dad. He is a badass. He has been growing out his mullet for the wedding so he could have braids ontop.
Dad was so excited, he arrived right after me but I wouldn’t let him see Karissa until she was done getting ready. I wanted to capture this sweet emotion of seeing his daughter on her wedding day for the first time.
Unfortunately, the dreary weather turned into an all out rainstorm so we had to change plans. First Covid changed the venue and date, now the weather was against us too. The mountains were too muddy to drive in so we went to my parent’s house near Utah Lake.
We were able to keep Karissa hidden from Jared while we found a good spot for the first look.
My hair flipped wildly from one ear to another as the wind whipped around. Pelican bay was a pretty marina surrounded by rolling waters of Utah Lake. Karissa walked up behind Jared so he could finally see her in her wedding gown.
Bride and groom first looks are my favorite! They are so sweet, intimate and full of emotion; Hugs and happy tears.
Here is Karissa recreating the Titanic poses with all that wind.
Then we headed back to my parent’s backyard for their ceremony. Everything was still so beautiful! Thank you to all the family and friends that set it all up.
I love their goofiness. They were made for each other and apparently Jared knows this from trying Karissa’s boogers?
My son had a snarl on his face the whole time. Silly boy.
First kiss magic!
I love this cute little move. Jared undid Karissa’s skirt to show her fitted gown underneath. Kind of like a garter but over the dress instead of under.
Didn’t really get any good photos of my daughter either, but here she is kissing my sister. She was a flower girl, but when when she saw the crowd of people she got scared and sat with my husband.
My dad, my 2mom, my new brother-in-law, my sister, me, and my husband.
Finally, somewhat of a smile from my son.
This was the groom’s requested photo lol
Such a beautiful cake! Our family loves “quakies” aspen trees.
Congratulations sis! I am so happy for you and so proud of the woman you are becoming. Jared is an amazing man to have by your side. I wish you both the most joy in your marriage.
I was so happy that I got to be your photographer. I don’t trust anyone else to take your photos as well as me haha. It was not what we were planning, but I think it all turned out so intimate, beautiful and perfect.
