I layered on clothes, pulled up my wool socks, and slipped into my rubber boots while it was still pitch black in Wendover. Hot cocoa – check. Gloves – Check. Handwarmers – Check. I promise you, it was colder than it looks in these photos. We took several breaks to warm up! Lydia and Hiram are absolute rockstars for letting me take photos at their sunrise elopement.
The sun started to peek through the blanket of clouds. Just a sliver. A stunning sight! We started with a first look. “Does my makeup make me look old?” haha NO Lydia, it does not. She looks absolutely fabulous and as time went on her cute, giggly personality shone through. Hiram is her rock and they complement each other so well!
They exchanged vows in front of their closest family and friends. It was so sweet to hear their parents give advice. Her father’s love made me tear up! Everything you can do at a normal wedding, you can do at an elopement. I love that Lydia tossed her bouquet – straight to the only person available to catch it!
We ended with a private drive around the salt flats. Lydia and Hiram got to soak in being married privately with literally no one around for miles and miles (besides me of course). Then it was off to their epic honeymoon road trip to Big Sur, California! Congratulations you two!
Thank you so much for trusting me as your elopement photographer! I had an absolute blast with you two! I didn’t tell you that it was my birthday because I didn’t want to take away from your special day, but it really was an epic birthday present to me because I love what I do so much. Especially when I get to take wedding photos with fun people at the Bonneville Salt Flats!
