Flooded Salt Flats Engagement Photos – A Dreamy Sunset Session

Some engagement sessions feel like a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and Mary & Cody’s flooded salt flats engagement photos were exactly that.

After an adventurous start in the remote Utah mountains (check out those photos here), surrounded by thousands of sheep, we made our way to the Bonneville Salt Flats Speedway. A massive winter storm had just passed through, leaving behind a glassy layer of water that turned the flats into a perfect mirror. Against all odds, we had the most peaceful, windless evening—just warm enough to kick off our shoes and step into the water.

The Salt Flats + A Couple With Style & Heart

Mary looked effortlessly elegant in a white dress with delicate shoulder bows before switching into a chic jeans-and-top combo. Cody complemented her perfectly, starting with a tan jacket before embracing the simplicity of his neutral look.

But what I loved most about them wasn’t just their style—it was their joy, their kindness, their laughter, and the way they looked at each other in adoration. Even the smallest moments felt magical.

The Heartbeat of Their Love

One of my favorite images from this session is of them standing in the center of the flooded flats, the sunset casting golden and pink hues across the sky. Their reflection in the water looks almost like a heartbeat—the ripples from their steps forming a million perfect circles around them, as if the whole world revolved around their love.

It’s moments like this that remind me why I do what I do. Capturing not just how love looks, but how it feels.

Barefoot in the Salt Flats – A Love Worth Capturing

There’s something about walking barefoot through the flooded salt flats that feels almost sacred. The way the water ripples beneath each step, how the entire world reflects around you—it’s like stepping into a dream.

Mary and Cody embraced every second of it. They kissed, they splashed, they laughed, and they soaked in the moment as the sun dipped lower in the sky. They were so gracious, constantly thanking me for the experience, but the truth is—it was them who made it so special.

They even went all in for some drone shots, lying in the soft mud just to capture something unforgettable.

Why Flooded Salt Flats Engagement Photos Are So Special

If you’ve ever dreamed of walking on water for your engagement photos, the flooded Bonneville Salt Flats are one of the most surreal places in the world.

The best time to capture them like this? Right after a storm, when the water is calm and the reflections are at their peak.

Want an engagement session that feels like pure magic? Let’s create something breathtaking together.
