I could hear the squaws of the peacocks as I rode down the cobble road towards La Caille. I was already excited for Carissa and Steven’s engagement photos…but I got way more excited to explore this magical place and find all the peacocks. Though the sky was dark and moody, it didn’t rain on our parade! We had a blast at this little unique, vintage castle.
This was the first time Carissa and Steven had seen each other in over a week. Steven had been in Idaho for about 10 days for work. He came home, got dressed up, and went to La Caille for these engagement photos with Carissa. It was so sweet to watch them interact because they really missed each other. There was so much love!
Here is their love story as told by Carissa:
So it was actually Stevens cousin who is also a very close friend of mine who set us up. Funny that at the time both of us were not looking for a relationship at all. Steven was planning to move back to San Diego soon and I had an amazing career opportunity come through and all I wanted to do was focus on work. However, I had met Steven when I was younger and his cousin/my friend was hanging out with his friend. I asked her if this was her ‘cute, older cousin’ and that of course I thought it would be fun for us all to do a double date or just to hangout. I hadn’t lived in the Salt Lake area in a few years and wanted to meet some new people. She was really excited for us all to hangout but little did I know she was telling him that he NEEDED to date me when I had no idea she said any of that. I was under the impression we would hang out as friends. We met in April and he had no idea I was at his friends house already which made for a good laugh because he came in his workout clothes and brought his mother’s little dog a bichon frise, I grew up with large dogs so this made me laugh. We immediately had this connection and just a fun vibe with each other. Throughout the next few days of hanging out he used to make fun of me saying I used witchcraft because I love gem and chakra stones! I remember telling his cousin after the first week of us hanging out that I would marry him, I knew it even deep in my core that I would spend the rest of my life with Steven.
Steven proposed to me in Arizona at the Wrigley Mansion at Waldorf Astoria Arizona Biltmore property. We came down for my birthday weekend in May of 2018.
He actually proposed on my birthday which was perfect and so amazing because I know I would have caught on to what he was doing if it was any other day.
I was so relaxed the entire day and just thought he was planning a great fun birthday for me so I just let him be. I didn’t ask questions, I didn’t pry into what plans he had, I was just there to have fun and relax.
Therefore, I had ZERO idea what he was up to, absolutely clueless, and was so surprised when he popped the question. We were sitting on the patio at the Wrigley Mansion enjoying a glass of wine and talking about the past, present and future. I got really emotional because it was so beautiful where we were and being with him in that moment was so breathtaking. Once I started crying that’s when he got down on one knee!
my response “ARE YOU SERIOUS!? OF COURSE I WILL! YAY!!! ARE THERE CAMERAS RECORDING THIS?? OH MY GOSH I’M UGLY CRYING, ARE YOU SERIOUS??!” BEST. DAY. EVER!
On our wedding day I think mostly we are looking forward to sharing our happiness with our families and having them come together. I adore his family and love spending time with them and he adores mine as well.
We are looking just to create a memorable experience on that special day. I can’t wait to cry and laugh with him and all our friends and family.
I think both of us are looking forward to a lot in our marriage together. We love to travel and want to explore the world. We want to buy a home and have children, open up a business. We are looking forward to all the goals and bucket list ideas we get to check off in our adventure together. I love that we have the same idea of what we want out of our marriage and communicate that with each other constantly.
My favorite part about the session with you was how natural and comfortable it felt from the very start. You naturally make people feel comfortable with you and I think that is really important especially in the career field you are in. Overall it was a fun experience. I loved that you trusted me and allowed me to offer suggestions and ideas based on what I had seen and some of the poses I wanted to try with Steven. So thank you so much!
Stevens favorite part was how much fun he and I had together with you, and being able to kiss me after every photo even when you didn’t ask us to. HA!
Thank you so much for trusting me with your engagement photos and showing me around beautiful La Caille. I had a blast with you two! I am so excited for you to be getting married!
