There’s something sacred about beginning a wedding day before the world is awake. We started at Above the Flats, a luxury stay literally right above the Bonneville Salt Flats at sunrise. The mountains meet the horizon and the light feels soft and untouched. Makeup and hair stylist, Lexi pampered Angie as I photographed their details. Jesse slipped out for coffee and morning treats for us. I also picked up their amazing cinnamon rolls from the dough lady the day before.
Jesse and Angie had beautiful, classic taste. A romantic updo. Custom tux. Two stunning gowns. French manicure and plenty of diamond jewelry options. They looked amazing!

Their first look unfolded in front of the rising sun. Surrounded by mountains and the salt flats down below. It was emotional and unguarded—equal parts tenderness and joy.

At one point, Jesse lifted Angie effortlessly, laughing, strong and steady in a way that felt so true to who he is. He is so kind and caring, it was chilly with a breeze coming through so he gave her his jacket. The entire morning carried that same feeling: peaceful, present, and deeply them.

We paused for lunch and to relax before the ceremony. Angie changed into a second dress. I drove her down to the ceremony site so Jesse wouldn’t see the new dress.

The only “guest” was an empty chair to honor Jesse’s late brother. It was a beautiful, peaceful ceremony and we were all in tears by the end of it. These two emailed me their vows, but didn’t share them with each other beforehand. I made them vow books to keep them secret and special. They were absolutely beautiful!

In true form, Jesse even benched her on a weightlifting bench I brought along, a moment that somehow felt both playful and symbolic of their strength together.

The wind picked up (the strongest I’ve ever experienced out there). That was the perfect time to break for champagne and charcuterie! How cute is this from Cured and Cut!

We ended the day where the water was reflecting the sky as it turned soft shades of cotton candy at sunset. From the stillness of sunrise above the flats to the color and movement of evening, it was a full, intentional day. It was a pleasure photographing this lovely couple, beautiful inside and out!
