Sun rays peeped through the clouds as we gazed out the window. It was quiet and peaceful as Amberlee was getting ready. Much like the calm before the storm…a literal thunderstorm was incoming but also a sweeping flood of love and joy “storm”!
Every detail was accounted for. Amberlee is an amazingly talented model, photographer, and wedding planner! She was almost sad that the wedding planning was over she loved it so much. But of course couldn’t wait to marry her best friend Steven!
I adore the mixing of textures. The cut out white rose heels, pink tulle, and velvet envelopes. My heart was leaping over these beautiful details! Amberlee even made her own arch bouquet. She incorporated so many little details that made the day extra special and meaningful like adding a charm on her bouquet with her grandmother’s handwriting, wearing her grandmother’s hat, gifts for everyone involved and so much more.
My two favorite parts of the day – listening to the song “Happy Ever After” Amberlee commissioned as a gift to her husband. It was based on a poem she had written for him. The sweetest thing! She let me listen to it while she was getting ready at the beginning of the day. Then we ended the night with their first dance as husband and wife to it.
My other favorite part was capturing their absolute joy and giddyness after getting married. July 28th was the 4 year anniversary of their first date! What a perfect wedding anniversary! They shared one of their favorite memories that they dressed up like characters from The Labrynth movie. In Steven’s vows, he said he slayed the goblin king haha my couple’s get me to watch all these epic movies and TV shows.
Steven surprised his bride with the sweetest letter and a gorgeous crystal ring before we headed out to the first look.Â
We drove to the top of a mountain and it started to pour! Luckily, Steven had ordered sunshine for their wedding day…and it cleared up just enough for them to see each other for the first time, have a handfasting ceremony, exchange vows, get married, and take some husband and wife portraits while dry.
Off to another adventure at the South Jordan Airport. We hopped in a small plane for a quick tour around Salt Lake City. The weather was wild, the plane was small, we didn’t get very far…but did we DIE?! No haha and we got some super fun photos! LOOK AT THEIR SUNGLASSES! I love it!
Through the wild wind we booked it to the salt flats. The dramatic skies and wind made for some epic photos! The stars aligned and these two are meant for each other.
We ended the night at Montego Bay. It was only fitting that after the crazy weather…we got to have a good laugh at the indoor decor. Their upgraded honeymoon suite was filled with basketball memorobilia – basketball lamps, basketball rugs, NBA posters on every wall, and for some reason black carpet.
These two are the best sports and laughed off everything that came our way. The whole time I watched them interact, I thought to myself – these two are gonna last. That is what marriage is about. Making the best of it. Having a good time simply becuase you are with your best friend. No matter where you are or what you are doing, you are happy because your soulmate is by your side. I saw that first hand with Amberlee and Steven!
Thank you so much for letting me be your wedding photographer. I love you both so much and wish you all the joy in the world!
Thank you to everyone that made their day extra awesome!
