I drove from the Northern Arizona, my couple from Central Arizona, yet both of us were greeted by a heavy downpour just before reaching Sedona. Once we actually got to Cathedral Rock, it was like a magical bubble of beauty. Clouds loomed overhead, yet it didn’t rain on us. The clouds were terribly deceiving since it was still 90 degrees when we started the session. Danee and Joey loved the weather since it was still cooler than in the valley!
Cathedral Rock Engagement Photos
Sedona has so many beautiful places for engagement photos, Cathedral Rock being one of the best. It is a fairly easy hike to a plateau where there is a lovely 360 degree view of several red rock features. You can hike all the way to the top, but after the plateau it is quite steep.
There is a high chance of flash floods there, but lucky for us it was dry during these engagement photos. This reflection was made with my phone.
I absolutely loved working these two, my favorite part was probably when Danee gave Joey a piggyback ride! Man, my couples are strong! They both lift weights. Lucky for them, they did leg day the day before our little hike haha.
Believe it or not, I actually started the photo session near the parking lot out house! Why? Because I wanted to teach them all the posing basics before we got sweaty walking the trail. As well as give them a really easy spot where they could walk. I like to start with walking photos because they are by far the most natural and it gets out all the nervous energy.
I absolutely love Danees ring! In fact, I was wearing one very similar actually (but not nearly as nice)!!!
These two have known each since high school. Danee always loved how funny Joey was. Joey pulled a “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” and smoothly left his jacket at her place one time. Giving him a reason to see her again and the rest is history!
Congrats you two! I am so excited for you to be getting married! I had a blast taking your engagement photos at Cathedral Rock!
