Kayla and Justin’s Engagement Photos at Lake Pleasant, Peoria, Arizona

Engagement

Lake Pleasant is absolutely lovely. There is cactus on the land, but the water was a beautiful shade of deep blue and there were so many cute sailboats bobbing on the water. I am glad I got to photograph Kayla and Justin because they are so funny! My favorite part was riding the tram down to the water which seemed like it would just go underwater instead of stopping. Luckily none of us got wet at any point.

Here is their story as told by Kayla:
“So we met our freshman year and became really good friends through seminary. I actually convinced him to join the JV volleyball team because I was the coach. We kept getting closer but I started dating another one of our friends (it lasted like a month haha). Justin was a really good sport and kept being my friend even though he had started to develop feelings for me. I started realizing that I liked Justin and quickly broke up with the other guy. Justin told me he liked me on April 21st and we have been dating since!”

“For the proposal, Justin planned everything out with my family. I had no idea what was going to happen. My family decided we were going to go take pictures in Sedona for our Christmas card since everyone was here for Thanksgiving. We found a perfect place that would give us a beautiful backdrop (Justin picked it out). We took some family pics and then Justin said he wanted some with me. He asked my brother to throw him his glasses case so he could put his sunglasses away. He handed me the case and asked me to open it for him while he messed with something in his pocket. I opened it and the ring box was inside. I quickly closed it and gave it to him, nervous and excited! I couldn’t wait any longer. I said yes and now we get married in April!”2018-03-01_0009.jpg

“I think we are just looking forward to being together all the time. Not having to say goodbye or goodnight anymore. Always having each other there to talk to.”2018-03-01_0014.jpg

My favorite part about the photo session was how comfortable we were able to feel. Usually we have my mom take our photos so I was a little nervous about someone else taking them with us kissing and everything. We aren’t very PDA people so that was a concern of mine. You made us feel so comfortable and like we can act like ourselves (some of those pictures are very obvious of that haha). So thank you! We really had a great time!

Justin’s favorite part about the session was how much fun it was. 2 hours felt like 10 min. There was a lot of laughter and he really enjoyed how you made us do funny things to get us to laugh (green beans). haha

I wanted to end with this photo because I told Justin to tell Kayla one promise for their marriage as I walked out of hearing range. It looks like The Notebook! One of my favorite romantic movies, which Kayla loves too.
