We started at a little, old building that took us back in time. The Historic Wendover Airfield Museum showcases WWII artifacts and is a historic army air base in Nevada on the border of Utah. Julie and Dan changed into their wedding day attire after their mini road trip from Salt Lake City. The photos we took in the museum were straight out of a movie! I dare say, Jules and Dan looked quite presidential with the beautiful American flag behind them.
Then we took some photos in the private hangar with planes. It was all so special because we had the museum and hangar to ourselves plus Daniel has served our beautiful country.
We headed to the salt flats where Julie and Daniel exchanged their vows, from the heart, in-the-moment and they were so genuine and sweet! They popped some champagne to celebrate. Then, we soaked in the sunset.
The sun had gone down, but I knew they would totally love this spot up in the mountains behind the salt flats. They are farmers and I was hoping we could find some sheep but alas, they weren’t around. We stopped at a little campground to watch the stars come out. One by one, they filled the sky. It was a perfectly clear night. I’ve never seen so many stars in my life!
I love what Julie had to say about their elopement at the Bonneville Salt Flats:
“Utah is my favorite place on earth and it is special to me, although I have not been to the salt flats. I like that neither of us have been here, I like the open vastness of the landscape and how it looks in pictures and the feeling of being in such a magnificent place and being so small. [We picked the Salt Flats because we wanted somewhere] private, intimate, natural, and have an appreciation of the desert/mountains/beauty of nature.
It was just a feeling that this was my husband. I was in a 15 year relationship and I had no desire to get married but it was this feeling Dan was the one. He was my neighbor and I just liked him as a person and couldn’t see my life without him. Finding out he’d seen me many years before outside my old house in another part of town and also feeling interested in me before even knowing me. There is a feeling fate or destiny had a hand in things somehow.
[What I’m most excited for on our wedding day] Just being with the man I love in the beautiful state of Utah, just the 2 of us looking in each other’s eyes and knowing we are committing to forever. Feeling the desert wind blow and just feeling overwhelmed at the beauty of the earth and the quiet and our love.”
I had such an amazing time with Jules and Dan! They are so kind and so in love, makes my job easy! They are adventurous and beautiful inside and out. I wish you all the joy in the world. Congratulations on getting married! Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day.
